Toilet Twinning

At our Harvest Celebration 2016 we learnt that 1/3 of the world’s population do not have clean, safe toilets. This is an amazing number of people especially when lots of people in Cambourne have two toilets in their flat or house and some have even more toilets than people who live in their house!

Each of our toilets could become the proud owner of a certificate, complete with a photo and GPS coordinates so we can look up our twin toilets on Google Maps. So, please help The Vine to make a difference and put a penny in a pot every time you use the toilet in your house – your pennies will add up to the pounds we need to twin our toilets.

In response to this statistic, we decided to make a difference by launching our TOILET TWINNING CHALLENGE! We invited everyone to put a ‘penny in a pot’ every time they use a toilet between the Harvest Celebration and national Toilet Twinning Day on 18 November. Every £60 we raise will twin a toilet—and, with the support of The Link, we have already twinned 5 of our 33 toilets….so only 28 to go!!

A HUGE THANK YOU!!!

TOGETHER WE HAVE RAISED ENOUGH MONEY TO PROVIDE 15 TOILETS!!!

Our Harvest Festival focus this year was to support the Toilet Twinning Organisation and provide clean water and proper toilets to those people around the world who live in poverty.

Together with your donations, the Link Church, the Bake Sale and money from the refreshments sold at the Family Learning Workshop we have raised enough money to buy 15 toilets!!!

We plan to hold further events during this academic year and hope to be able to twin all of our 33 toilets!!

Thank you so much for your generosity, together we can make a difference!!!

Thank you so much to all pupils and their families for your generosity, together we are making a difference!!!

Together the donations from the Link Church, our families, the Vine Bake Sale and money from the refreshments sold at the Family Learning Workshop have raised enough money to buy 15 toilets in ten different countries. We plan to hold further events during this academic year and hope to be able to twin all of our 33 toilets.

Right now, more than 50 per cent of hospital beds in developing countries are filled with people who have an illness caused by poor sanitation or dirty water.

Did You Know?

Toilet Twinning funds the work of international relief and development agency Tearfund. Our donations will be used to provide clean water, basic sanitation, and hygiene education. This vital combination works together to prevent the spread of disease.

We learnt that Toilet Twinning is a simple way to solve a serious problem and save lives. For just £60, we twinned our loos with toilets halfway around the world, in countries of our choosing. For £240, we twinned with school toilet blocks. Each of our twinned toilets has become the proud owner of a certificate, complete with a photo and GPS coordinates so we can look up our twin on Google Maps.

We wanted help those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper toilet and clean water.

We found out that 2.4 billion people don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. That’s more than a third of the people on the planet.
