Welcome to Year 1!

We are very excited about working alongside you during this year. Below you will find lots of helpful information and resources which we hope you will find useful. If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 1 team, either by speaking to us before or after school at the classroom door or by emailing the school office office@thevine.cambs.sch.uk.

Who's who? 

Topaz class teacher is Miss Davenport and Amber class teacher is Mrs Bennett (Monday - Thursday) and Mrs Cleland on a Friday. Mrs Cleland also works in Year 1 on a Tuesday and a Thursday. Miss Little is with us for the autumn term and she will also be teaching in both classes throughout the week. We also have Miss Cornwell, Mrs Chapman and Mrs Aboubeker. 

Important information

PE days are Wednesday and Friday. Please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school all week. We will send them home over school holidays for a wash. Please make sure that everything is named.  If your child wears earrings then they must be removed before school on PE days. 

Reading books will come home every night. We ask your child to change their own books each day and time is built into our day for them to do this. The expectation is that all pupils read for a minimum of 3 times a week. We collect diaries in each week to monitor reading progress. 

Spellings will come home on a Friday. These will then be tested the following Friday in our Spelling lesson. Your child will be sent a log in home where you will be able to access resources and games that will help them to learn their spellings online. There is a link to this site below.
