Reading

Children should be reading for 10 minutes every day in Year 4. They should record what they have read in their Reading Record. Once they have finished reading their book, they must complete the corresponding quiz on the Accelerated Reader website. Teachers will check reading progress weekly. Please click on the link below to find more information about Accelerated Reader.

Pick and Mix Project

Year 4 are expected to complete at least 4 tasks from the pick and mix grid each half term. These can be found in pupils' red home learning books. Compulsory tasks include Maths, English and RE. Please check the date on the grid for the deadline.

Times Tables and Year 4 Multiplication Check

In Year 4, pupils take a Multiplication Check in the Summer Term where they are expected to quickly recall times tables facts up to 12x12. Extra practise at home is extremely beneficial. Please see the link below to MathsFrame which has a variety of free games to help the embedding of multiplication facts.

To support the learning of times tables, Year 4 will complete weekly times tables tests through our Times Tables Mountain Challenge.

Spellings

Weekly spelling tests will be every Tuesday

These tests consist of 10 words based on the weekly spelling rule. Children are expected to practise their spellings through completing the activities set on Spelling Shed each week. Please find below the set spellings for this half term:

World Book Day!

For World Book Day 2024, we all dressed up as a word. We had a range of words represented from 'nature' and 'elegant' to 'mystery' and 'casual'. We also learnt poem to perform in assembly. Here are the recordings of our poems:
