Welcome to Year 1!

We hope that you all had a lovely summer break and we are really looking forward to working with you all this year. 

On our page you will find useful information such as our timetable, so you know what is happening each day, and an overview of what is being taught each day. You will also find resources and information to help support your child at home with their learning. These will include information about how we teach reading, what sounds we cover in phonics, common exception words which we focus on throughout the year and expectations for the end of the year in maths and English. There is also a Remote Learning Grid. This is to be used if your child is unable to attend school for Covid reasons. 

Reading at Home in Year 1

In Year 1 the expectation is that your child will read at least 3 times a week at home but preferably 5 times. We encourage the pupils to change their books independently each morning as soon as they come into school. We will collect Reading Records in each Friday to monitor how your child is progressing with their reading at home.
