Roles and Responsibilities
The Vine School Governors work in a number of ways to support the school. The Full Governing Body (FGB) meets each half term to discuss the ongoing life of the school and also to plan for the future. Each governor also has responsibilities to monitor work areas within school life.
The key responsibilties of the Governing Body are:
- To determine the aims and values of the school for the benefit of the pupils
- To lead the strategic planning for the school, set targets for improvement and monitor progress
- To be active in monitoring the strengths and weaknesses of the school
- To ensure that the school meets the requirements of the National Curriculum to provide a broad and balanced education
- To work with the staff and parents to provide a safe, well-ordered learning environment
- To set the annual budget with the Headteacher and monitor spending to ensure that the school gives good value for money
- To respond to any inspection and ensure that recommendations are carried out
- To maintain and develop the ethos and reputation of the school amongst parents and the wider community
- To fulfil the duties of an employer
- To follow local authority, Diocesan, Methodist Church and national guidelines
