Home Learning

Pick and Mix Home Learning

Some of you have requested some examples of the maths suggestions on the spring home learning.

Please find below a parent guide to column addition and subtraction with renaming (some of you might call it 'carrying'!) You may also be more familiar with the term 'units' which your child will know as 'ones'. We hope this is helpful.

Spelling and Times Tables Homework book

All pupils will have a small red homework book in which parents can see the progress they have made in their weekly spelling and times tables tests. Please make sure that the homework book is brought to school every day.

Reading

Children should be reading for 10 minutes every day in Year 3. Once they have finished reading their book, they must complete the corresponding quiz on the Accelerated Reader website. Teachers will check reading progress weekly. You can find the link to the Accelerated Reader website below.

Spelling

Spellings will be set each Tuesday and tested on the following Tuesday. These will be set electronically via The Spelling Shed and a paper copy of the spellings can be sent home if requested. Your child should aim to complete at least 5 spelling activities on The Spelling Shed each week. As well as using The Spelling Shed, spellings can also be practised using a range of handwritten methods such as:
