Welcome Back!

Here is your weekly update...

It's Transition Week!

Hello Year 6! This week, your learning will look quite different to normal.

As you may know, if you had an email from CVC on Friday, this week is transition week. This means that all of your learning this week has been planned and set by Cambourne Village College. Throughout the week, CVC will upload a range of lessons on to this web page... https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/primary-transition   for you to download and complete. This will give you a taste of what your learning in Year 7 will be like and help you to prepare for the big move to secondary school. We hope you enjoy this learning and please do let us know how you are getting on with it throughout the week. (If you are one of the few children who are not attending CVC in September, we would still like you to access this learning as it is good preparation for secondary school learning. If any of the tasks are not relevant to you, we would like you to spend the time exploring your new school e.g. looking at the website, planning your route to school etc.) As we have not set these tasks, you do not need to email all of your learning to us, however, we would like you to choose a few examples of learning that you thought were exciting or that you are particularly proud of to send to us. You also still need to check in with us by sending at least 2 emails to Year6@thevine.cambs.sch.uk this week.

Have fun being honorary Year 7s!

Extra Help:

We have noticed that some of you are struggling to find all of the tasks on the CVC website. Each day when you access the website, you will see the day of the week. Directly underneath this, there is an Activity PowerPoint (see circled picture below). This is what you need to click on. This Activity PowerPoint contains all of your tasks for the day including links to video lessons and other resources. The other resources underneath this are additional resources in case you struggle to download them from the main PowerPoint.

One little task from us...

Even though you are honorary Year 7s this week, we still have one little task that we would like you to do this week. This is a very special task which will be used to celebrate the end of your time at The Vine - your leavers' song. Miss Foster has re-written/adapted some lyrics of a version of a well-known song for you (which we won The V Factor with in December thanks to RJ) which we are going to use for our Year 6 Leavers' Song this year. Miss Foster then asked Mr Morgan to help her with creating a practice track for you - they both recorded themselves singing the song at home, and Mr Morgan worked his magic to combine their voices and produce a track that you can practise singing along to. We would like you to spend (at least) 10 minutes every day learning and practising your Y6 Leavers' Song this week. (We will let you know what the next stage of putting the song together will be later on this week/next week.) Here it is, we hope you like it...

Y6 Once I Started The Vine, Miss F & Mr M.mp3

Friday 26th June 2020

It's Friday! We made it! Have you had a good week? We hope you have enjoyed your transition learning and that it has given you a taste of what is to come next year. Today, you have got 6 sessions - Pastoral Activity, Geography, Art, PE, Maths and a special Live Session at 2:15pm ( https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/primary-transition ). You can find the link to the live session on the last slide of the PowerPoint today.

What have you enjoyed the most about your transition week? Let us know in your emails today. Speaking of which, quite a few of you still haven't emailed in this week... please do check in with us as soon as you can if you haven't already. We will be ringing you later on if we haven't heard from you.

Parents: Please look out for a letter containing more details about the transition sessions coming to you via email today (if your child is attending the sessions). We can't wait to see you Year 6!

Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!

COMPETITION TIME!!! Today's competition is a creative one, it's the... 'Everyday object art competition'! For this competition, you need to select an everyday object from your house (a pencil, a hairbrush, some food, a plant etc.) and turn it into a part of a drawing. Click on the document below to see some examples. The winners will be the drawings that have used the objects in the most creative way. Entries must be emailed in by 1pm today! Good luck!

WINNER!!! We have one stand out winner this week. Congratulations Ilani! We loved your toothbrush butterfly and your eggshell hand. Well done!

Thursday 25th June 2020

Good morning Year 6. Can you believe that it is Thursday already? Transition week is flying by! From the emails that we have seen so far, it looks like you are enjoying the learning set by CVC for transition week and that you are all working hard, well done. We have been really busy too as we have been planning your transition sessions which start next week (a letter with more information will be sent out before the end of the week). Please remember that you must still email us twice this week! We haven't heard from about half of you yet; make sure you get in touch today so that we don't have to chase you. You can simply drop us a note to let us know how you are getting on and tell us about/show us the learning that you are enjoing.

How are you getting on with learning our Y6 song? Remember to practise it every day for about 10 minutes as the next stage of this project will be coming soon. Keep working on those tricky lines and see if you can perfect it by tomorrow.

Today, CVC have set Science, History, PE and Art learning for you to have a go at. There is also an optional extra of History. https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/primary-transition  Have fun!

Wednesday 24th June 2020

Happy Wednesday Year 6! Wow, it was hot yesterday! It looks like we are going to have more beautiful weather today too. Enjoy it whilst it lasts. Have you been enjoying your CVC transition learning? What has been your favourite lesson so far? Today you have a Pastoral Activity, History, Geography, PE and an optional extra of Music. ( https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/primary-transition ). Remember, you still need to email us at least twice this week. Perhaps you could share some of your CVC learning with us? We'd love to hear from you.

Have a great day!

Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Hello again Year 6! (or should we say Year 7?) How did you find your learning yesterday from CVC? Did you enjoy it?

Today, CVC have set History, RPE (Religion, Philosophy and Ethics), PE and Computer Science learning for you to do with an optional extra of Music. https://www.cambournevc.org/COVID-19/primary-transition  Remember: If you get stuck on the learning, CVC have said to try your best but if you still can't do it, then move on.

How are you getting on with learning our Year 6 Leavers' Song? Do you like it? There are a few tricky lines where the lyrics are quite quick so remember to practise along with our track for at least 10 minutes every day!

Also, a quick reminder to those parents who have not got in touch yet about our transition sessions - please do email the office with your reply as soon as possible (bubbles will be organised in the next couple of days and we'd hate for your child to be missed off).

Have a great day!
