Pre and post teach grid (suggested time for each grid approx 15 minutes) 

Please see below the pre and post teach grid. The pupils are very familiar with the format of this. One grid is to be completed before the learning in the day. Then, one is to be completed after the English and Maths lessons in the day, to provide a recap of the learning from the morning. 

English (suggested time 1 hour)

Today's English is looking at retrieval skills as part of our reading VIPERS sessions. The pupils are introduced to a non-fiction piece about Cambridge, as this will link to their writing of a local area poem in the next week. Please follow the video which takes the pupils through the tasks. The flipchart is also provided as a PDF if needed.

Reading (suggested time 30 minutes)

Please continue to do your regular reading at home, and writing your four comments per week into your reading records. Please see below our VIPERS focus task for the week. The task is included in the PDF and can be woven into your daily reading time. 

Spelling and handwriting (suggested time 15 minutes)

Please see Mrs Maya's handwriting video which takes you through some letter formation, which then leads into practising our handwriting for some of our Year 3 spellings. 

 

Maths (suggested time 1 hour)

Our focus is "Can I add using the expanded or formal method". Very similar to last week, we are revisiting addition using the expanded form or formal method. This week however, we will be bridging the 10's and 100's column. Please remember to be careful when adding and make sure you check out the explanation first! I have also attached the PDF version of the session should you need it.

Times table practise and telling the time game (Suggested time 30 minutes)

 

Please remember to practise your times tables either by using Maths Frame times table check or using TT Rockstars. You've all been working really hard this week with Time so why not have a go at the telling the time game!

PSHCE (suggested time 1 hour)

Today's focus is 'Can I understand how families are similar or different?'. Please follow the video which takes the pupils through the tasks for this session. The flipchart is also provided as PDF if needed.

English (suggested time 1 hour)

Today's English lesson is focusing on inferring skills as part of our reading VIPERS. Please follow the link to the video which will take the pupils through the tasks for this lesson. The flipchart is also provided as a PDF if needed. 

Maths (Suggested time 1 hour)

Our focus for our learning is "Can I find the duration?". In our learning today, we will be looking at how to find the duration of events. We will also recap on previous learning and use that in context. Should you need it, there is a PDF version of the lesson.

Computing (suggested time 1.5 hours)

Today's computing has two focuses. One focus is to know the difference between input and output devices. The second is to know ways to search effectively and how to pick the most important words to use in a search on the internet. As a reminder, if the pupils wish to use their key word searches on the internet, please can they add KS2 at the end of their search.

English (suggested time 1 hour)

Today's English is a spelling focus, looking at the prefixes super, anti and auto. Please follow the link below that takes you to the video that guides the pupils through the tasks for this lesson. The flipchart is also provided as a PDF if needed. 

Math (Suggested time 1 hour)

Our focus for today is "Can I tell time using the 24 hour clock?" We will be recapping on previous learning and building on using the 12 hour and 24 hour clock.

 

 

Science (Suggested time 1.5 hours)

Our science focus today is "Can I investigate magnets?". In our learning today, we will be experimenting with different magnets and trying to find out what is magnetic and which magnet is the strongest.

English (suggested time 1 hour)

Today's English is looking at editing and writing up our volcano limericks, giving the pupils an opportunity to review their learning as well as produce a published version.  Please see the video link below which takes you through today's tasks. The flipchart is provided as PDF if needed.

 

Spelling (suggested time 10 minutes)

Please use the PDF provided to support you with your spelling practise. The menu provides a variety of activities you can use to help with spelling practise. Use one of these activities to practise your spellings for around 10 minutes a day.

Maths (Suggested time 1 hour)

Our focus is "Can I use AM and PM correctly?" We will look at what the difference is between AM and PM and look at solving problems building on yesterdays learning.

Maths Frame - Reading time game (Suggested time 10-15 minutes)

Please watch this video of a game I would like you to try. You can set the difficulty to what you would like. It does a very good job of testing your understanding of how to read time. 

 

Just so you know, I have a high score of 200 on all of the levels. So if there is anyone that thinks they can beat my score, you are welcome to try :)

Our focus for today is "Can I tell the time?". We are going to recap how to read time and have a go at solving some questions. Please watch the video from start to finish and remember to show all of your working out. I have also attached a PDF version of the game should you need it.

RE (Suggested time 1 hour)

Our focus for our RE learning today will be "Can I record information about John Wesley". In our RE unit, we are going to learn about the life of John Wesley and how he founded the Methodist Church. I have also attached the PDF version of the lesson should you need it and background information that is read aloud in the input video.
