September marks the start of the school year and this year, at The Vine, we have had the pleasure of welcoming 60 new pupils to our reception classes. The first week allowed both pupils and families to adjust to the new routines with a staggered start of mornings, lunch, and then full days.

However, a staggered start does not mean staggered fun! The pupils have been busy finding out where the best toys are, the names of their new classmates and trying to do as much as possible in the time they have had in school!  Over half of the children now in our reception classes attended our Preschool last year so were already members of The Vine family and were keen to show those new to The Vine how things are done here.

The pupils have created wonderful family portraits, created collages, made mud pies in the mud kitchen, picked fruit from our orchard, learnt new songs and stories, sculpted models from playdough and so, so much more.

Amongst all of this, we have also been learning our school prayer which is also our school vision…

This is our school.

Let peace dwell here,

Let the rooms be full of contentment,

Let love abide here,

Love of one another,

Love of mankind,

Love of life itself,

And love of God.

Let us remember

That, as many hands build a house,

So many hearts create a school.
