THE VINE INTER CHURCH PRIMARY SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP WITH TSUCHIURA NIHON UNIVERSITY SECONDARY SCHOOL
Our school is a multi-cultural community and we strive to encourage and develop citizenship in preparation for life within the local, national and global communities. We do our best to live the Vine Vision, it states in our school prayer that we believe we should have a love of one another and have a love of mankind. We have a thirst for learning about our world and our international learning has gone from strength to strength. In 2017 we were awarded the British Council award for International Learning.
For the last ten years the Vine Inter Church Primary School has played host to students from Tsuchiura Nihon University Secondary School. It has been a fantastic opportunity to share learning, languages and different cultures. This year the Japanese students led a whole school worship sharing information about the fantastic country of Japan. We learnt about the landscape, dress, foods, music, entertainment, language and what their school is like. The students then held a quiz for the whole school. We were really impressed with how they spoke clearly in English; they explained they had been practising very hard.
We generally host between 20 – 30 students each year and they visit the different year groups around the school during their time with us. During this time, they taught our pupils how to write their names in Japanese. Some of pupils had opportunity to create origami cranes, some had a go at new juggling skills and others learnt how to write their name in Japanese. We feel so privileged to be able to host them each year and are currently looking at ways to create sustainable partnership over the year.
Please take a few moments to look at the photographs of their visit.
