  • Garden Club - Plant Sale Success

    Mon 23 May 2022

Garden Club were delighted to raise a total of £100 from their plant sale in aid of the Shepreth Hedgehog Hospital.   We have been able to adopt a Hedgehog named 'Henry'.  We received lots of interesting information about the hospital and two adorable cuddly hedgehogs which have been adopted by our After School Club.  We would like to thank you all for your amazing support."

  • Global Ambassadors at the Vine.

    Fri 20 May 2022

“I may be just a child, but I still want to help make a difference to the world” This was how one pupil summed up their reason for wanting to become one of this year’s Global Ambassadors at The Vine.

Still in its relative infancy, The Vine Global Ambassadors are going from strength to strength. We wear our pupil-designed badges with pride and meet up regularly to discuss our projects. (Socially distanced and outside for much of the year!) Run much like a school-council, it aims to give pupils a voice and all the projects we undertake are pupil-led.

Pupils from Years 1-6 meet together to share the views of their peers to find ways to make a difference to issues that matter to them. These range from wanting to keep our community tidy by litter-picking to raising money and supplies to help families in Ukraine.  We have our Vine Vision to ‘love one another and life itself’ in our minds when deciding what we would like to achieve.

To date, our compassionate and caring pupils have twinned all our class bins with communities in Africa, raised money for Jimmy’s night shelter, Children in Need, Comic Relief and are working on sponsoring girls’ education in other parts of the world, who don’t get the educational opportunities that we are lucky enough to benefit from.  We were really proud of our efforts to join in the relief effort gathering supplies for Ukraine and one of our Ambassadors also organised messages of hope to be sent too.

We are always on the look out for ways we can learn more about poverty injustice and ways in which we can become advocates for change and are always happy to hear from anyone within the community who works with a charity or organisation who may benefit from our efforts.

  • Garden Club visit to Cambourne Village College

    Thu 05 May 2022

On Thursday 28th April, members of Garden Club in Year 6 were welcomed by staff and students at Cambourne Village College.  We were given a tour of their Garden Club facilities and were able to plant apple trees as part of their 'Queen's canopy' initiative. We were so grateful for the huge amount of effort the staff and students had put into planning our visit from learning and experimenting with our senses to being able to magnify flowers using their amazing microscopy facilities.

Our pupils had such a fun afternoon and they were able to speak to students and ask questions about joining the college in September.  It is a lovely thought that they will be able to see their trees grow as part of the 'Queen's canopy' in their forthcoming time at Cambourne Village College.

We pass on our thanks to all the staff and students who gave up their time to assist us.
