Year 6 Long-Term Plan:

Autumn 1 Weekly Timetable:

Key information:

PE:

PE days this term are Wednesday (outdoor) and Friday (indoor). Pupils should come to school wearing their PE kits on these days; they will then stay in their PE kit all day. Earrings should ideally not be worn on PE days.

Forest School:

Opal will be attending Forest School on Monday 26th January, Monday 2nd February and Monday 9th February.

On these dates, pupils will need to bring in the following additional clothing - a pair of long trousers, a long sleeved top, wellington boots and a waterproof coat - in case the weather is inclement. Pupils will not be able to attend Forest School if they don't have a change of clothes and shoes.

Home Learning:

We ask pupils to read at home daily for at least 15 minutes. Each pupil has a level-appropriate reading book. Every time they finish a reading book, pupils should complete the corresponding quiz on the Accelerated Reader website. Teachers will review their reading progress weekly and pupils will be celebrated for reaching their reading targets. To access the Accelerated Reader website, click on the link below.

Pupils have also now been given their first ‘6 book challenge’ book. These books have been carefully selected as core reads for their age group and pupils should aim to read all six books by the end of the year.

The children also have CGP 10 minute maths, reading and grammar books which they need to complete one test from per week. They will be collected half-termly in school.

In addition, pupils are set spellings to learn each week. In Year 6, pupils are tested on spellings twice a week: on Tuesdays and Thursdays. To help them learn and practise the spellings, pupils have all been given an account on Spelling Shed. Click the link below to access the Spelling Shed website.
