We hope you are getting used to the new routines.

Here are a few reminders for you.

Home Learning: Reading (AR/RWI), Spelling, Times Tables, RE

Spellings - Pupils will be given new spelling words in their Spelling book on Mondays and tested on these the following week. EdShed logins are in the front cover of their Spelling book which will go home on a Monday and should be brought back in the following Monday. Pupils who do not bring in their red spelling book will receive a Red Slip sent home to remind both pupil and parent to bring in their book. Please feel free to use a range of spelling practice tools alongside Spelling Shed (list of strategies attached at the bottom). 

Times tables - For at times table home practice, check out these links to the BBC: Times Tables and MTC. We will be using MTC in class on Fridays to check times tables. Please bring the Red Spelling Book in on a Friday to practice your times tables. 

Maths Frame (MTC)  To practice at home: click on the MTC link, press play game, then click 'Adjust difficulty' where you can select which timetable you want to practice and the time between each question. Set the time to 10 seconds per question, 25 questions. We will be focusing on the 2s, 5s and 10s times table this half-term, but you are welcome to practice beyond that. 

Reading & AR - Accelerated Reader Pupils can bring home AR books within their range to read and quiz at home. We recommend 10 minutes of reading per day. Pupils on RWI should bring home their phonics book each week to read with an adult. 

Accelerated Reader – Each child performed a ‘Star’ test at the start of term to gauge their level for AR. This is written on their bookmark – these should remain in school. AR log ins have been sent home. Your child may quiz at home and at school when time allows. Please encourage your child to tell us if they need a quiz resetting if they don’t pass it.

Six Book Challenge – Each child has been given their first challenge book and report sheet. We would encourage you to read with and for your child as necessary in order for maximum enjoyment, as some of these books may be beyond your child's reading age at present. 

RE - Enrichment activities will be given out termly. This Autumn term, we ask that pupils go out into nature (i.e. garden, park, walk, etc...) and find something that makes you think "WOW." You could take a photo, a video, or draw a picture to bring into school or email the school office. 

Forest School – Wednesday mornings. Please ensure that your child has wellies and waterproofs in school for their Forest School Days. As the weather gets cooler, layers are encouraged. 

PE – Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please come in PE kit on these days. On Wednesdays, we would encourage joggers or leggings to cover both Forest School and PE.
