PSHE at the Vine develops the knowledge, skills and attributes pupils need to keep themselves healthy and safe, as well as prepare for life and work in modern Britain. We aim to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk management, team working and critical thinking. It is a subject which is not only taught in discrete lessons, but is enriched and applied in many aspects of school life.
At the Vine we follow the Cambridgeshire Personal Development Programme which focuses on these areas:
Myself and My Relationships
Healthy and Safer Lifestyles
The scope of these units includes exploring the causes and types of bullying, strategies for coping with transition and change, becoming aware of our emotions, rights and responsibilities, body awareness and growing up, and road and water safety. Underpinning all our teaching is our aim to develop pupils’ respect for others and challenge stereotypes through the use of diverse role models. Learning opportunities include discussion, circle time, drama, school visitors and focus days such as Anti-Bullying week.
